We are a big believer in making our products look beautiful for our customers.
And with that in mind, FM Nicholson have helped a major online beauty retailer cope with the Christmas rush – to help its thousands of customers look beautiful for the party season.
The Oldham-based company designed and installed a system for Beauty Bay who retail and distribute beauty products across the UK and mainland Europe.
Manufactured by KP Industries of Rochdale, the line shaft conveyor which handles packages from packing to despatch, was designed using state-of-the-art 3D software.
Due to continued success and growth Beauty Bay relocated to a larger facility at Trafford Park in Manchester followed by a major investment to further increase the automation of their packing and distribution process.
Working closely with FM Nicholson, a complete review of the process was carried out.
After process re-mapping it was decided to introduce an additional powered roller conveyor system, ergonomically-designed creating an ideal and safe working environment for the employees.
As the packing operatives work closely with the conveyor quality and safety were essential, a full-length emergency stop pull cord was introduced to give all operatives control over the system.
Peter Hopwood, of Nicholson, said: “with relocating to larger premises Beauty Bay approached us to duplicate the system, in effect to double production rates, due to increased sales.
“With the festive season in full swing we were aware time was of the essence in delivering the system on time with no disruption to ongoing production.
“The delivery period and quality were of prime importance as the client was moving premises and could not afford to be out of production.
“The new conveyor and layout significantly improved efficiency throughput by eliminating bottle necks in the packing and distribution area. The whole system was installed on time with no disruption to production.”
Nicholson also specialise in Trade counters, converting small industrial/warehouse units into fully operating trade counters within specific time and budget constraints.
